Ran track my junior and senior years in high school and cross country my senior year. Went to BYU but did not run. Served LDS church mission to San Bernardino, CA. Started running again in April 2005. Marathon debut was St. George in 2005.

Been married for almost 17 years. My wife, Mara, and I have four kids ages 16, 14, 13 and 11.

What a difference a week makes. Last Tuesday my indoor workout was a disaster. This week, things went much better. I met my coach and John Timeus and Uli Steidl for a "Ks" workout: 7x1000m in a fast:slow alternating format with 90 seconds rest. The fast time was 2:57 and the slow time was 3:00.

The four fast ones were all either 2:55 (4:41 pace) or 2:56. The "slow" 3:00 repeats were all in 2:58 or 2:59. So I beat all my times and did it feeling like I had a quite a bit left in the tank. I probably could have done each a couple of seconds faster and done a couple more reps without any trouble.

So last week was simply a stinker workout that everyone has from time to time.

 Ran another 11 tonight. Half way thorough I realized how dehydrated I was from the morning workout. I grabbed some water and that seemed to help.

WOW! That's an amazing workout. If you have a 5k coming up you could be looking at a 14:30! I remember John Timeus from High School he was part of some good Kent Meridian teams I think...and Uli was a councilor at the cross country camp I attended, small world.

You are an animal, Sean! I agree with James. I think your sub 15 5k is a given and a sub 31 10k a certainty if you can stay healthy. Dehydration seems to be a recurring nuisance you should be able to fix.
