Five mile warmup down to the Mt Si High School track and then a marathon pacing workout. 5 miles at 5:25 then one mile at 5:10. Hit 5:24 on the dot for Mile 1, lost concentration on Mile 2 and dropped to 5:26. Mile 3 was 5:22 and then 4 and 5 were both at 5:23. The last mile I did in 5:08. I wish I had started earlier in the morning. By 11am it was already well into the 70s on a gorgeous day. I practiced my water drinking skills as well taking water every two miles. That is always my biggest challenge in a marathon and will be a key to my race on Saturday. It was cloudy and 52 today in Newport. Oh how I hope for such perfect running weather next Saturday. |
